Mold needs three things to grow: Moisture, a nutrient, and a warm environment over 60 degrees.

Stachybotrys Chartarum - Toxic Black Mold is a greenish black fungus found worldwide.  It colonizes in most building materials including, dry wall, carpeting, wall paper, fiber board, ceiling tiles, and thermal insulation.  The fungus can be wet and slimy to the touch. IONIZATION may make the air smell fresher, but it is not an organism killing bactericide in the way that ozone is.  Ozone is the best way truly remove mold odors, and retard mold growth.

IONIZATION is NOTHING MORE than static electricity, and it has no organism killing ability.
In fact if you use ionization to try and control mold, the negative ions will drive the floating mold spores to your walls, floor and ceiling.

Six months after you start using an ionizer you will have MORE mold spores and bacteria collected in your home than before you started!   Mold testing has proven this fact.

Ionizers electronically glue 90% of the bacteria in the air to all the surfaces in the room. In our opinion the use of an ionizer that claims to "remove" dust actually makes an area  MORE UNSAFE because the bacteria level will constantly be increasing.  Even those ionizers that claim to collect the dust on rods or grids are only grabbing about 5% of the dust in the air.  The rest is "electronically glued" to your walls, floor, and ceiling. It does NOT all just "drop to the floor" as some may claim. One consumer guide states that: "Ionics do little to clean the air. If you own one, try returning it for a refund!" Ionizers make the air smell fresh and clean, and the air may even have less dust in it, but it's foolish to ever use an ionizer because in the long run the dust and bacteria count will INCREASEin your home. It's a short term solution that creates a greater long term problem.
